My wife and I will be taking a 2 week vacation sometime between Oct/Nov and Jan to visit family and do some sightseeing. I realize that if we want to do any swimming in the ocean we'd better come in Oct. But this is not that big a deal with us. We'd like some nice walks on the beach or through some parks. Maybe sit out and enjoy a drink or something. We plan on visiting in No Fla then driving down to the keys as I've never seen this area.
That said. Is there a "better" time between these 3 months as far as costs go? Is one of these 3 months cheaper and easier to obtian rooms than others?

Thanks

November is the nicest of the three months in my opinion. October can be hot still, January in the Keys will be windy, and cold sometimes. November is usually a good month weather wise.

Cost wise January is usually part of peak tourist season. October and November you should be able to find some good deals.

January would cheapest time in North Florida but that has more to do with the Holidays being over. I would think the keys would be in high demand year round. Just a tip, depending on how far north in Florida, it can be pretty cold in January so bring more than a bathing suit.

If you are renting in Northern FL then Oct - Jan are off season and will offer inexpensive rentals that are widely available.

This all changes south of Orlando. Oct/Nov are offseason but most rentals jack up prices around Dec 15 and they stay that way until Apr 15 or so. Many times the price is twice as much in-season compared to the offseason and rentals really pick up after the Xmas/NY holidays.

You are right about the swimming season ending in Oct up north (usually mid to late Oct for my bro in TLH) but down in the keys it's not unusual for the water to hover around 80 until December.

My favorite time of the year to be in FL is Oct-Dec, great weather, no crowds and I am not a big fan of fall up north. Hope you enjoy your trip.

October and November are great choices, just not immediately after Thanksgiving.

If you are going to Disney or other major theme parks, come in January.

Nobody has mentioned that the most expensive time of the year in Key West (and to a degree the Lower Keys) is the end of October. Fantasy Fest runs October 21 to the 30 and most places are outrageously expensive, if you can even find a good place to stay now. Some places require a 7 night minimum stay during this period.

November and December cool off (price wise) so you'll have better luck then.

I would second the month of November.

Not a chance. My kids are grown so the chances of me stepping into a theme park now is pretty slim. Of course we did them in the summer when they were on break so that made it even worse.
