Hi!!

I'll be moving to Miami area in the near future and I would like to know, how complicated is to get the Driver License coming from another state.
Is there any reciprocity agreement with other states?
I’ve read the DMV website and it says that Driver License from California is accepted as primary identification, but then what?
Any comments will be very much appreciated.

Thank you all

BOSE

I moved from New York to Florida and got my license transferred. It's very simple. I brought them my NY DL (which was valid) and my birth certificate. within an hour or so I had my brand new FL DL in my hands! Unlike most states, they issue it right there at the DMV.. they take your pic and wala!

It's really, really simple. Just head to your local DMV office when you're there and bring your valid out-of-state DL and birth certificate. You'll be fine.

As a married woman, I guess they will want my marriage license also? The surnames are not going to match up.

Basically in FL you just need a pulse to get a driver's license, so I don't think you'll have any problem if you are already licensed in another state.

You'll probably need any usual form of proving who you are and that you live in the state, even if it's not legit.

Since we are moving from Illinois, we have to have certified copies of our birth certificates, plus our Illinois drivers licenses plus some other ID, we will probably use social security cards. For some reason, Illinois licenses are not considered a primary form of ID.
I dont know about the marriage certificate, but I will bring ours, just in case...

You will need to take a new vision test and turn in your old license. And if you have any other licenses (Motorcycle or etc) make sure to tell them to carry it over otherwise it will be lost.
