It seems Vancouver is out of the loop. The first known use of legging was in 1718. It sinply means stretchy material that's fitted. And CERTAINLY NOT just for "working out". There are hundreds of listings on Google for "dress leggings" from all types of stores.

Kim's Skims is valued at $4 Billion and while yes, it's mostly shapewear, her pant/leggings (avail in black) would NEVER be confused as something surpassing denim.

Kohls used to sell Gloria Vanderbilt jeans. I think they still do. I never cared for them though. They fitted funny.

I prefer Levi Signature jeans, bootcut. I like the way they fit.
