Every time I set out to find jeans in the $100 range I wind up disappointed - usually by the fit or the stiffness of the material - and I go back to brands I like (Hudson, 7 for All Mankind, Citizens for Humanity, Paige). Has anyone found a cheaper brand that is REALLY as good as designer? Not "good enough for the price," but actually just as good???

I would never pay $100 for jeans, I'm perfectly happy with the jeans from Costco at under $20, or $25-50 at Duluth Trading. If they have a good fit, are comfortable and durable, that's all I care about.
I hear you in terms of trying to find quality denim that hits the right marks in terms of cut options, consistent sizing, quality of the denim, wash options etc.
Until recent years, I had been really happy with AllSaints men's jeans, even if I didn't buy any other clothing from them. They were my go-to. The quality was good, the fit options good, and they even offered to reimburse a certain amount of $ for tailoring the inseam. They ran $150-200 normally but could find them for ~$100 during sale periods.
In the last few years however, the price has stayed around the same but the quality hasn't seemed quite as good and I don't believe they offer inseam tailoring reimbursement anymore. Prior to them, I had good luck with Levi's, even if the quality was inconsistent.
I am likely on the hunt for some new brand options myself.

"Good" how? Do you consider $100 jeans cheap? I try to never spend more than $15 on jeans - less, if I can.
I have no problem with stiffness of material, but jeans soften with use, anyway. As to being disappointed by the fit - are you buying them online? I've never understood why anyone would buy clothing online and expect it to fit. Everything fits me because I try it on in the store, and don't buy it if it doesn't fit.
I haven’t bought designer so it’s hard to compare but I like Rock n Republic, Old Navy, and just recently bought my new favourite pair of jeans at Target, a brand called Knox Rose. Sooo soft and comfortable.

I like Duluth but I don't think they make anything for $50 or under. Last time I bought from them I think the jeans were $70.
The OP is asking for a guy's opinion. I'm assuming the OP is a he.
