I know it probably sounds like a stupid question. But I have no suitable place to let wet sweaters dry while laid flat.

Suggestions?

I have a few stacking drying racks like these: https://www.containerstore.com/s/lau...uctId=10034926

In the meantime you can lay them on a towel.

I have a folding drying rack, or I use the top of the clothes dryer and/or washing machine.

wring out as much as possible (gently), lay it on a towel, roll up the towel like a jelly roll with the sweater inside, stomp on the roll for a minute or so, unroll, move sweater to a new dry towel laid on the floor or carpet.

Do the jelly roll thing with a thick towel a couple of times. After that take another towel and drape it over a chair back sideways or sofa back, again sideways so there's less chance of the sweater stretching, and lay the sweater on that towel to dry.

I put mine on the top of the dryer rack on top of a towel. When it is almost dry, I might put it in the dryer, on low, to moosh it back into shape, if it needs it. Otherwise, since I have a woodstove going in the basement, it usually dries just fine on the rack.

Thanks everyone. Fleetiebelle, I'm headed over to Amazon to buy those racks. They should fit perfectly in the otherwise useless, never-used-in-ten-years garden tub!

Over the years I've bought several of the fold up dryer racks, vertical not horizontal like the one Fleetie refers to. My problem with the fold up racks is they were always so flimsy and the dowels would come out of their holes. It didn't matter if they were wooden, plastic or metal, and they would usually topple over at some point.

We have the space in the back of our house for a real clothesline and I'm tempted to have one installed properly (with cement.)

The garden tub sounds like a good place to have them dry on the square netted rack.

I ended up ordering this. I'll hang a hook on the ceiling above the garden tub or maybe the shower. And if it doesn't work, it's returnable (God Bless Amazon.)

I do this, and but I lay my new dry towel on the floor of the tub and lie the sweater flat on that and forget about it for a couple of days. (We have two tubs in the house.)
