when you pressure wash the engine, the water you use gets into all the electrical connections, and changes the resistance and thus the signals getting to the computer. as such the computer receives conflicting signals, and goes into what is known as limp home mode, to prevent damage to the engine. next time you decide to wash the engine bay, seal up all the electrical connections to prevent this from happening in the future.

Unless you know how to do this and most people don't, its best to not try this and for now if the suns out pop the hood and let it dry out and disconnect the battery.

If you have an air supply you can start out by disconnecting all of the electrical connectors and blowing out the water that's stuck in them and leave it in the sun.

The Engine Control Module ("the computer") detected a faulty signal from the Mass Air Flow Sensor. When this happens the system goes into "limp mode" which limits engine revs.

This is an old thread so presumably the engine compartment has dried out and the problem vanished.

I've always been scared to wash my engines because of issues like this. Is there a good tutorial out there that shows how to do it right without screwing something up? I'm about to put an '03 Envoy up for sale that has never had the engine cleaned and it's pretty dirty.
