Myself, it doesnt matter, as long as I shower or bathe before going to bed so all I have to do is get up and get dressed in the morning. I know that as a kid I used to get in and get out in less than a minute...what the heck can you do in a minute, surely not wash very good! But then, it really didnt matter as much as it does now.
As far as soaps go, for the most part Ive always used Ivory bar soap, but occaisionally will use Dove just for a change, then go back to my Ivory.

One of my favorite subjects
I love baths and showers equally. Sometimes a nice long soakie bath just feels so good and takes all of the stress out of the day. For me, it just depends on time available. As for soap, I make my own so I have shower and bathroom full of yummy soaps, as I am constantly testing new batches. Smells soooooo good. Whooda ever thunk a person could love soap so much??? I guess it's like shoes and purses???
