The Cold Shoulder look (full, tone, professional, shoulders)

I like it but it's based on the cut which needs to be properly placed on the shoulder without a large/huge opening. I've seen some that have shoulder openings all the way down the arm to the elbow and others that have an opening large enough that the upper arm is uncovered and the fit looks cheap. If the openings are not overly done, it can look attractive, especially if the garment is well made with a flattering fit. But, what I am seeing is very cheaply made tops with the cold shoulder, and they don't work well. And, I agree that there is too much of this look out there.
I keep running into the ones with slashed sleeves, all the way down from shoulder to elbow or wrist (like a single vertical slash, not horizontal ones running down the arm), and it doesn't work on me.
I shop at Chico's a lot and you would be hard pressed to find many tops without the "cold shoulder" look. I hate when a trend saturates all the clothing stores. I don't love the skinny pants look either but that's all I see when I go shopping. The only good thing about them is I don't have to hem my pants as often.
I LOVE IT! I think it is sexy without really showing anything. I have several tops in this style.

I don't like it either. Fortunately, there are plenty of tunics that don't have it. I think it looks cheap, like a trend that will be over in a flash.
You voiced what bothers me about the look . . . the style looks cheap and unsophisticated. Even when the cold-shoulder shirt is expensive, it never looks it.
I think if the style was changed to where the openings went all the way down the arm, it would look more stylish and pretty. I would wear something like that.

A friend of mine was wearing a cold shoulder blouse at Easter dinner. I love her to pieces because she is the kindest person I ever met.
We can't help our reactions to trends, but it's no reflection on her as a person.
