Blue jeans going extinct, in favor of yoga pants and athletic wear?

Ya right!

Blue jeans are increasingly going out of style, and even industry heavyweights like Levi's and Gap are taking notice.

Teens are now buying more gear from Nike and Lululemon over denim classics from brands like Abercrombie, according to a recent Piper Jaffray survey on teen spending.

Here's a recent thread on this topic: https://www.city-data.com/forum/fashi...thleisure.html

Absolutely applies to me (though I'm not a teen); I've never found jeans to be comfortable, yoga pants are considerably more comfy and easier to dress up/down depending on the rest of the outfit, for me, personally.

I believe that jeans will survive in their original role-as garments for work.

But in terms of comfort jeans do leave something to be desired.

There is no way yoga pants can be dressed up, they are still yoga pants and as bad as wearing pajamas to the market.

How can stretch leggings be dressed up? By wearing a little black dress over it?

Yoga is such a misnomer for what the attire is.

Yoga pants are supposed to be wide leg, roomy, white cotton sort of "zen" wear, not the skin tight look.

Athletic wear does not, and will not, replace jeans. Won't happen. Silly article.

Those teens will eventually grow up. Jeans are the new khaki in the business casual world, here we have casual Friday and most of the 2,000 employees wear jeans, but many will wear them all week. Levis and Gap should worry more about the quality and cost of competitors, like the great $13 jeans at Costco.

I worry about this happening, but what do ya do? I think it's inevitable and it's sad to me.

In my humble and honest opinion, the notion that leggings or yoga pants can be "dressed up" is absolutely ridiculous. They look even worse when people try to do that.

Really? You think jeans would vastly improve this outfit?
