I think the monk look is severely under-represented. Simply get a bowl haircut and then shave a big circle on top of your head toward the back and you're good to go!

Ahh, aka, the 3 stooges Moe cut...brilliant! Curly had some nice locks, too.
As a young male I never really cared about my hair, until now, which may explain why it's messy and may have discouraged female attention in the past.
Can some women describe what hairstyle(s) they find attractive and post image examples as well?
Thanks
You know what you should do? Instead of asking for description, go to one of those beauty shops - Great Clips, or Cost Cutters - whatever; they have gazillion of books with pics of different haircuts, for men/young guys including. Go through it, find what you like and then ask the girls that work there whether this or that haircut would work for your type of hair. If not, ask them what would they advise instead. (Keep few pics in mind - that would be the best, they will probably even help you to choose which one is right for your face shape. May be you will see it yourself too, while looking at the picture and preferably having a look in the mirror)))
I have seen a lot of decent to good looking guys with really bad haircuts and it truly does detract from their looks. Find a good hairstylist - ask around, ask some of your female friends for recommendations or even ask a guy who's hairstyle you like where he gets it done (I know that's not really a "guy" thing but hey, it can't hurt).
Do not, I repeat, do not just shave your head or get a buzz cut. Boring and a huge turn off.
Maybe for you it is but just keep in mind you don't speak for all women. A lot of women like the look. I know this from experience.

If I were you, I'd take the advice given here with a huge grain of salt. You should just pick a style that you like and you are comfortable with. You are going to get all kinds of answers here because women, like men are all different and have different preferences.
Just go to a classic gentlemen's barber shop, become a regular customer (if you like the place) and they'll fix you right up. Stay away from those chains like great clips where your "barber" will be some 18 year old girl browsing Facebook on her smartphone while cutting your hair. And those chain places tend to be a revolving door so you'll have a new barber all the time.
Not female, but a bisexual male, so I feel qualified to answer. I like longish hair. Always have. Not necessarily too long, but I never saw the point of really short haircuts, especially for guys who aren't balding. Really short haircuts may be more practical, but I don't find them particularly appealing from an aesthetic standpoint.

what about for those without hair left on top? a Skullet is the only option that meets your comment?
