Injuries from high heels on the rise - CBS News (pun presumably intended)

It has been known for a long time that high heels are a major source of injury, and even death. Japan has had its platform shoe craze and paid a high price (pun intended).
Deadly Fashion Craze Sweeps Europe And Asia -- Now Spotted In The U.S. | Watercooler Topics

Normally I would be in favor of people wearing whatever shoes they prefer, but in this era of Obamacare, I think health risks must be regulated, including high heel shoes.

Here is an example. Sayaka Shoji seemingly feels compelled to wear high heels even though she doesn't need them to look beautiful. She does that all on her own.

Maybe she likes heels. Her high heels weren't very high from what I could see. She wasn't walking through the city or standing in them for ten hours, either. Ban them? What else would you like to ban?

I'm against banning anything.

If we ban this, and ban that, one day there's going to be nothing left to ban.

Germany is already monitoring wattage on hair dryers so "flats for all" might be an option. Actually - let's ban having fun. It is not a necessity and can be so contagious.

No offense, but just a question like this shows the demise of our world pushing for political correctness and over protection.

We all have choices to make in life.
We all have to determine risk-reward.

Choose to buy high heels for fashion, risk getting injured.

Not a great similar example, but it points out those who push for change for safety when the numbers don't add up (% of injury). A few days ago at Fenway Park, a woman was seriously injured by a broken bat. This morning I heard an interview of a woman who had her face shattered 17 years ago from a line drive. There may have been a spattering of such serious injuries between these two, but none I remember. Now people are crying for protective netting around the field to protect from these injuries. I bet if I added up the % of fans over 18 years selling out Fenway (37,673 x 18 years = 678,114), even if there were a 1,000 serious injuries over this time period, it would be 1/10 of 1% of all fans - so change everything?

Back to heels - they're shoes. Ban cigarettes, automobiles - two lethal proven killers. Heels? Please.

Stay out of my womb and my shoe closet. Those decisions are mine to make.

You can see the flash of high heels at approx. 18:45, just prior to the 2nd movement. They are definitely not a shoe that any podiatrist would recommend. Even if Sayaka can handle it due to her slim physique, it sends a wrong message to the children.

Oh FFS ... enough with the pearl clutching! I can guarantee that NO children will be scandalized by a flash of a high heeled shoe 19 minutes into a video that they're never going to see because they don't share your fetish for young asian classical violinists.

And I'm not going to bother watching the video, but I'd be willing to bet that the heel isn't really all that high.
