One of my daughters came by the house over the weekend and the conversation turned to tattoos.
She said that she is basically the only one of her group of friends who doesn't have a tattoo. Her friends have multiple tattoos and spend a lot of time talking about tattoos and planning their next tattoo. My daughter says that she feels like an outcast for not having a tattoo and is feeling lots of social and peer pressure to get some.
Her friends are always saying to her, "Why don't you get with it and gets some tattoos?"
If you are 21-40 and don't have any tattoos do you get any peer pressure from your friends or family to get with the times and get some tats?
I don't have any tattoos and will never get any. I've never felt pressured to get one. If someone tried to pressure me into getting a tattoo, they would just be opening up the door for me to make jokes about their tattoos. I've got lots of material. It would actually be fun for me.

I learned to deal with (ignore) peer pressure back in high school. Haven't had a problem since. If my friends can't appreciate an ink-free me, then I find new friends who aren't so shallow.
My son wanted a tattoo for the longest time. His dad told him as long as he was paying for his school and helping him with living expenses. Now that he is done with school and on his own he still does not have one.
Tattoos are permanent and I know several who regretted getting them and are looking to get them removed.
Sounds like typical adolescent peer pressure. Sucks. Hopefully your daughter will stand her ground. I have tattoos and I would never suggest someone get one, let alone suggest it because "it's the thing to do". Ugh, people.
It is similar to her having a short pixie haircut and her friends all have long hair and want her to let her hair grow.
(She likes her friends and will not drop them because of the differences in fashion styles.)
Maybe she needs to find friends who are accepting of who she is.
