I don't think the 3D manicures are very attractive, but women spend a long time on these manicures and it's something they actually enjoy and it's fun for them. They do look ridiculous on a grown woman, but if she's having a great time, who are we to criticize? I think short rounded, square cut, oval shaped nails are a classic style and beautiful colors can be traditional as in the red/pink shades or more daring like pastel shades (but not too bright) like mint green, lavender, baby blue colors. Short nails are attractive and they do look clean and neat; long nails look passe and not as clean and probably very hard on the hands to accommodate them, like feet wearing high heels.
I also hate those really long nail extensions that flange wider than the nail bed. Jewels in the nails and painting little flowers and so forth - uggh!
This is the first I've heard of 3D nail art - it doesn't seem to be popular here. Thank goodness. It's hideous. But then, I'm also not a fan of nail art, weird colors for nails, or long fake (or real) nails.
Long ago, I read that a woman's nails should be like softly tinted seashells. I think that is the prettiest look. Everything else looks so tacky IMO.

3D manicures are totally not my thing, but I imagine that some of those pictures are from hair and nail shows to show off their artistry or if someone has them in IRL it's for a party or going out clubbing.
I can't imagine you can do anything practical with your hands with nails like that without them breaking off.
I don't see how anyone can get anything like cooking or housework done with that nonsense on their nails. They also look like they'd catch on things easily.
So....ugly, impractical, and expensive.
+1. OMG, it's horrible looking! I have never seen this phenomenon before. I used to get my nails done in a shorter French manicure. I had one extra: a small brass ring hanging at the end of one pinky nail. I liked it a lot, but I wasn't able to get it long. That trend faded quickly, and I hope this one fades much faster
Apart from being horrendously impractical, from the pics, they look hideous. Not to mention uncomfortable. I have a pretty low-profile engagement ring, and even at that rate, I catch it on things annoyingly. Why would I want a bunch of extra junk to get caught up on crap at the end of each fingernail? Gross.
Well, I'll be! People are actually paying money for an idea I came up with about 30 years ago? To be 10 years old again….
