I was sorting through my jewelry box today and I came across a Chanel charm bracelet. After a few minutes of trying to remember where on earth it came from I remembered it had been recovered in the aftermath of a party I had in college roughly 10 years ago. In looking at the bracelet I don't think it's fine jewelry, but might be part of their costume/fashion jewelry line. Given the college I went to someone losing an expensive bracelet would not be odd. Anyway, it doesn't look like high quality gold, but it has a good amount of detail to it. Can anyone suggest the best way to research what exactly this bracelet is? I'm mostly curious, though possibly interested in selling it since I forgot I even had it and don't really have a desire to wear it.
Thanks. I had seen that guide, but hadn't been able to find the little oval. Then when I was looking at it today I noticed it. It's so tiny, though it looks like it say 02 for the year and is legit.

You could also take it to a jewelers to be appraised.
Do you think a jeweler would be able to appraise given the fact I'm fairly certain it's Chanel costume jewelry (assume it's not just a good fake) and only gold plated? It would seem to me the value is all the brand, not the quality.
Oh yes....an honest and seasoned jeweler will know in a minute...go to a jewelry store and make sure you talk with a repair person or a true jeweler..not just a sales associate.....
It doesn't matter if its costume because its a name/era that people collect.
Not all jewelers are created equal but they should be able to look at it and tell you if its a fake and what it is actually made of. The details are easier to see with the tools they have on hand in the shop.
