I would be careful with the lower back of the neck. Depending on how the tattoo is shaped, there is always the chance it will be seen above the collar.
The tattoo I have on my arm is rather large and comes below some t shirts. When I had it done, it didn't seem like it came that low. Then the one on my back can be seen above some of my shirts as well.
You have to be careful with size and placement if you are going to be white collar. Some are ok with it, some are not.
I can tell you this much; I have seven tattoos and three are on my back. I forget I have those! I would probably not do that again, or I'd go for a huge back piece next time because it's kind of like, well, what's the point? Since I rarely see them unless I make a point after the shower to go look in the mirror.
I think you should get some sort of temporary tattoos (doesn't matter what, just approximately the same size and color of what you are planning) and place them in various parts of your body that you are considering, to see how you like the various placements.
Also, I am tattooed on my upper arm, my left inner forearm, and my right wrist. I am heading into a professional career and just plan on wearing long sleeves and a watch to cover them. I wouldn't base a tattoo decision on how much it will hurt, honestly, because they hurt and that's a fact. If I were doing a larger piece on a particularly sensitive area I'd just plan to spread it out over more than one session.
That is a very good idea, i really want it on the inside of my forearm to be honest, but i am too afraid that it will be seen at my job one day.

Whats a shadow head and whats a swirl? I just like the symbol itself.
Just a word of caution. Make sure to visibly watch them do it with clean needles and hands. I hate to be a buzz kill but I've taken care of patients with Hep C from being infected by tattoos. I wouldn't want one but to each his own. Please be careful.
I agree about checking the shop out thoroughly beforehand. Most shops these days are inspected by a health inspector and tattoo artists have to be certified. Can disease be spread? Sure if you go to some two bit scratcher that doesn't know what they're doing, or if the place is lazy and cheap and cuts corners. We always wore gloves, used an autoclave for sterilization, and had systems and techniques in place to avoid any cross contamination. I apprenticed in a time when the needle groups were mostly all hand made and then sterilized in Fox bags using an autoclave. We would open the sterile needle bar bags in front of the customer just before assembling the machine. There are a lot of shops these days that just order their needle bars with needle groups pre-made and sterilized. They are single use and are usually thrown away after each customer (usually).
One thing to keep in mind, some people view the zodiac as having to do with the Occult. Plan accordingly if this will really be a problem if seen in your work environment. Some people might not ever even say anything to your face, but will secretly hold it against you.
Ok, so I am seriously considering getting a tattoo, it will be my first one and a horoscope symbol. I'm a guy and I don't want anything stupid and I want it in the right place. I work in a white color job, so putting it on my forearm, would probably be a no no haha. I was thinking about putting it on my back, or my arm. I reallly don't know at this point what would be best. I want it in a place where it won't look bad if heaven forbid I gain weight...is there anyone that can advise me on what I should do?
Upper arm. Most acceptable tattoo zone for a guy.

Usually tattoos are more painful if they are in a place with bone right under the skin. The way I look at it is any tattoo is going to hurt, some more than others, so if you want one just suck it up and get it.

Look up Gemini symbol images. I just did and there are some really cool artistic versions of it.
It kind of looks like the Roman #2.
