I first saw this type of piercing on a bus driver years ago. I couldn't figure out how it was mounted on to her cheek. I almost wanted to ask her about it, but hesitated, as it suddenly occurred to me that it might be some sort of medical device (prosthetic dental anchor, perhaps??!!) But, to each their own...
