Every fashion season we see designer fashion shows in which runway models who look like walking coat racks walk down the catwalk wearing something no sane sober person would ever want to wear except as a Halloween costume. Why? I'm surprised they don't create uniform shaped maniquins connected to an electric motor under the runway which moves the dressed figure across the runway at regular intervals. No models of varying shapes and sizes, all dresses exactly the same size so you know each will fit, no runway tripping, no model late from trying to do a quick change backstage, and no back talk.

probably because theyre designing clothes for the rich and elite who do nothing but wear that crap at various parties and functions. Perhaps what they need is a middle or lower income fashion designer/show.

No. /lol

Runway is the extreme and sets the trends, colors and proportions for the seasons "look."

Ready to wear is the mass produced interpretation of the runway.

J crew showed at fashion week. Are those not real clothes? Because I'm wearing j crew shorts right now, an if they're not real I'd like to know.

They are trying to make money. The industry lost a fortune when women started to work at professional jobs and would only wear suits and shirts daily, competing with men.

The idea is to keep changing the styles and pray(prey?) that the majority of us will want to be 'in', whatever that is. The idea is that we should keep churning our wardrobes as they dictate by changing the fashions regularly.

Women, a few decades ago, really got fed up with 'fashion' and opted for simple classic styles that stayed 'in' over the generations.
