I have a bad habit of coming home from where ever and heading straight to the kitchen to cook without even changing first, so I get oil stains on my clothes. I know I need an apron. But a couple of my favorite tops have gotten oil stains on em, I've tried washing them normally but no luck. How can I get the oil out?
I'm not sure about Canada. It's available anywhere here in the States. I've always been a grease monkey and mechanic working on cars for fun. My Mom started using it when I was having the same problem. I couldn't get them clean either and asked. She used the stuff and sent my greasy mess jeans back looking clean. I picked it up from her. It really does work.
I second SouthernBelle's suggestion. Any sort of gentle dishwashing soap like Dawn, though I'd go for handwashing in the sink just to make sure the trouble spots get proper attention.
Once its dried in dawn sometimes doesn't work. I always dab with dawn if I get a splash. It works great as a pre-treatment more times than not. Using it with cool water works best to not spread the grease around. In the laundry area of the store there is a product called lestoil. Its the best for getting out tough oil stains, deoderant build up, yellowing on shirts (ring around the collar). If all those fail (which I never had lestoil fail yet..so far..lol) you can take it to a dry cleaners. Some cleaners do wet laundry too and they shoul have something on hand that will work great on the grease that is not available for public use.
I should wear an apron, too! All of my shirts get oil dots.....I use one of those stain sticks...you can apply it, and you don't have to wash it right away. The sooner you treat the oil, the easier it comes out. Yes...dish detergent will help, but you will need to wash before the detergent dries. Sometimes, it takes more than 1 wash.
