I always saw them as a bit of a luxury and not totally necessary (usually a towel suffices), but I'm sure others disagree.

I wear slippers in the cold months (Dec. Jan and the beg. of Feb) but my obsession is flip flops. Little cotton dress, flip flops to match and if I have to go outside I don't look that awful. Sometimes I can get away with wearing the dresses to the store too.

I came home with a new pair of flip flops the other day and my husband rolled his eyes and chuckled.

I love silk robes. Never too hot and never cold. I feel that my skin holds moisture better too when I switched from cotton to silk. I love the way they wear and how fast they dry.

It could depend on where you live.

I used to live in Hawaii and never had a robe.
But now that I live in the Pacific NW, It is a luxury because it is always cool-cold in the house in the mornings. Saves on heating costs too!
We veg out more in the winter here, so if I gotta stay home, I'm gonna be comfortable!!!

Onglet,
You're a triplet, actually. I, too, looove robes and slippers.

I have 6 robes of different colors: Two terry--one knee-length and one almost ankle-length; one cotton; two very short silky, sexy kimono style; and one very short silky everyday.

I usually lounge around in mine after dinner or during weekend before I get dressed. Love it.

I wear my fluffy pink robe over pajama sets 100% of the time that I'm home. I walked around a bit outside earlier today with it on as well. My husband thinks it is an old lady look and very unsexy but he knows I gotta have it.

Many weekends, when I just don't give a damn, I'll slouch around in my robe all day long. That's when I want to feel luxuriously lazy.

I own a big "fluffy" old robe and one black velvet one that zips up. I prefer the ones that zipper up; however, the fluffy one is much warmer.

There's this new product called Forever Lazy! It's an all body lounger with a hood.

I like it!! I want to get one for when I go camping. It looks great to sleep in, walk around the campfire in the mornings, because I need coffee before I get dressed. Plus it looks comfy.

It also comes with a pair of fluffy socks!!!!!

I am desperately wanting to find a robe like the one Claire Dunphy wears on the TV show, Modern Family. It's a dark grey and looks like it might be some kind of knit cashmere, but I'm not sure. If anyone knows what I am talking about and where I could get one, please let me know!
