Well . . . I was curious to find out after seeing your question, so i did a web search.

There appear to be several web sites with the words 'Equine' and 'Alaska' both in them:
http://www.dogpile.com/search/web?fc...rse+alaska&ql=

One of the classified ads says they have "a stall with Rubber Mats on inside Stall Floor and 12 X 12 Paddock. Heated Water Tanks, Heated Warm-up Room . . ."

This --I think it's 3 years old-- has some interesting responses:

"Horse in alaska, average cost of upkeep?"

Lots of people with horses in the Mat-Su. Quite a few in Delta, the outskirts of Fairbanks, and the Western Kenai. It's expensive...

Yep, there's horses in Alaska. The upkeep is expensive though. It cost a lot for shipping feed up here. Here in the MatSu Valley they grow hay, but have had poor results that last few years.
Here's an article from a few years ago: Farmers strive to meet demand in poor hay year - Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman: News
Maybe contact these guys for more details on having horses in Alaska: Home

A lot of people have horses around Fairbanks, but feed and winter shelter can be expensive. The weather is a lot milder in the MatSu area, or even the Kenai Peninsula; this should make it easier on the horses, and hay is cheaper.

There are no living horses in Deadhorse, AK. With good reason.
