Might be a stupid question, but did you use the pad on the bar?

Good question. I didn't see any kind of padding on the bar. I was kinda looking for some cushion or padding.

You'll get used to it, it takes a bit of time... almost as if it was your first time working out again. Use the barbell because if you do it with proper technique and form, not only does it work out your legs, but your whole core. It's probably the best core exercise out there.

And I think you asked where the bar should be, I found out the bar should be place on your shoulders, in line with the balls of your feet.

Oh, ok. That explains it. There should be a pad that fastens by velcro around the bar. Probably about 18" wide. If you can't find it just ask the staff and they should have one. If not, that's not a good sign.

When putting the pad on, put the velcro side facing up. That's the most comfortable way to do it.

Default squats

I use to power lift and in order for a squat to qualify usually you have to go below a 90 degree angle.

My legs are huge compared to most people. I squat deep and don't cheat.

Over 90 percent of people I see squat don't squat deep enough. I see guys squating all the time that put too much weigh on and can't go deep enough. They lower the weight less than 6 inches and thing there doing something great and their legs are not getting any bigger.

Haha I don't power lift, but one of my nicknames is stumpy because of my thick legs. I guess I'm squatting correctly then.

It pisses me off when people do that in the gym, big pet peeve of mine. What's worse is when people do bench press and don't touch there chests. I sometimes walk by them and when they look at me I usually just shake my head at them

I always like "Hey, you gonna count that one?"

There used to be this big gorilla guy that just got out of prison at my gym (lots of dudes from a halfway house get free memberships there) and he used to throw on three plates on each side, barely the bar halfway to his chest, slam the weights and then spend the rest of his time grunting, blatantly and excessively eyeballing the women and rapping to himself like he was actually doing something impressive. Not impressed.

Form looks good, But yes from someone with bad knees
and bad back I would stick with leg presses ,far more safer
when I was 20 I could do that fine now I am 31 and I steer clear from squats and deadlifts. It is bodybuilding not body destroying.......

Full squats are the best way to go. This means going down as low as you can without your tail tucking under.
