Hello, Everyone. We are looking to get a set of interchangeable dumbbells that can be quickly changed out so we can use them at home. Does anyone have any experience with different types and which are best?

Thank you!

I had the Bowflex SelectTech dumbells many moons ago. They work well but are a little bulky.

Wow, the list price for a pair of 552's are $429 today. I paid around $150 for them, another victim of inflation I guess.

I had the Powerblocks brand when they first came out it’s the stand and they were great, no issues at all.

Since then, I’ve move on to resistance bands (Undersun) and I have found them to be just as good as dumbbells but way more practical and convenient, IMO.

I've seen those interchangeables, and they seem a tad bulky? And of course they are expensive as heck.

Why not just get really good quality dumbbells with a few changeable plates?

TBF the Select weight type dumbbells are sexy and take up less space (but not by much).

There are suppose to be a few "knock offs" that are as good as the name brands. One was available at Costco at a lower price. Sorry don't remember the brand.

When I read the title of this thread, I thought I had blundered into the P&OC thread.

I know this isn't what you are looking for. The adjustable ones are too expensive for me so I went with these for a little over $150 with tax. I bought the set and 8 of the 5 pound plates.

EDIT to add. The Walmart here was way higher in prices than the links. If that is the case you can buy online and go to your local store and pick them up for the online price. We do it all the time because our local store has crazy high prices compared to the online prices.

Thank you! I do that all the time as well, buy online with Walmart and then go pick it up.

Buying dumbbells and plates separately is probably the most cost effective way.
Powerblocks are great though if you don't mind the investment.
