Walmart.com: Gold's Gym 40 lbs Cement Weight Set: Exercise & Fitness

I saw these dumb bells at Wal Mart for only $20, and I may buy them. Would they affect anything if I started working out a gym while using these to do a few exercises in the morning after work?

IMO weight is weight. As long as the weight is evenly balanced (as almost every dumbell is) then they're all good.

No reason you can't use them at home. If you're also working out a gym though make sure you don't over do it or work the same muscle groups at home as at the gym.

It depends if you mind adding the weight or taking it off while you're trying to do exercises. Also, keep in mind it is only 20 lbs for each one so if you wanted to lift heavier weights at home you couldn't. I would personally just look on craigslist for some used DBs. But considering you belong to a gym I guess it doesn't matter. As far as working out goes, I usually just do weights in the morning and if it's a cardio day, I do that in the evening.

As long as you use them. And, for the price... your really can't beat it! I would recommend checking the local classifieds, craigslist or something like that first because people buy exercise equipment all the time with high ambitions of working out. ...And, then it collects dust until they sell it. Let their loss be your gain. You could probably find a complete weight set and bench for close to the same price if you look...it's an investment in your good health.

At $0.50/lbs, you can get metal weights which are usually more accurate and more durable. Especially, as others have pointed out, if you buy used.

I didnt think they made cement weights anymore. I would definitely pass on purchasing those. At only 20 pounds each you would really outgrow them in less than a month even if your my grandmothers age. That really isnt worth it at all.

Check craigslist and even head over to your local Sport Chalet or Sports Authority and pickup some metal weights. Much better bang for your buck.

Don't really have a used sporting goods store in this area. Only thing close is a thrift store.

I bought this along with those dumbbells

Walmart.com: Gold's Gym 100 lbs Cement Weight Set: Exercise & Fitness

I tried to get something that wouldn't be hassle whenever I moved because I am planning on moving in the summer.
