-Most of the 172 people aboard are feared dead after a plane veered off the runway at Madrid's Barajas airport, officials said. CNN Breakingnews -- email I just got.

If I remember correctly the airport is pretty far outside town and has very long runways.

Terrible news. God bless them, and prayers to families and friends as they try to cope with this.

Yes, very sad and tragic news. My prayers go out to people impacted by this accident. I noticed that the plane was heading from Madrid, Spain for the Canary Islands, site of the most fatal commercial air disaster (collision of a KLM jumbo jet and PanAm jumbo jet) back in March of 1977.

Lots of prayers from California to the families and friends who had a loved one on that flight. Air disasters are horrible and the victims that survived sound like they will have a difficult life living with major burns. Elmundo.es has really emotional videos and commentary from the crash. It is in Spanish, but if you can understand the language, it is the best source.

Just horrible. I can only imagine what the families are going through right now. If I remember correctly I think the news is reporting that there were around 20 children on board. I absolutely hate flying so for obvious reasons this is my worst fear.
