No. This aircraft carrier is old uncomfortable short for normal jet takeoff sh*t. But that's all we have of carrier-based aviation so far.

+ The aircraft carrier burned several times before. Also, these fools drowned a floating dock a couple of years ago. Repair Kuzya is a big circus, unfortunately.

Russia is lately building some quite nice vessels and it is definitely capable of designing impressive military technology.

I do not understand why they insist on keeping the Kuznetsov alive...that ships seems jinxed...and no amount of modernization is going to make that turd viable for modern naval air combat.

Why don't they go ahead and built at least one of the originally planned 4 Shtorm class supercarrier.

Shtorm class supercarrier (project 23000E) On paper it matches or even exceed the capability of the Gerald Ford class carriers.

I think that doesn't make sense. Kuznetsov once took part in hostilities for 30 years. It was Syria a couple of years ago. But Russia has good ground airfields for jets there. The real defense of Russia is the Strategic Missile Forces. Mines, mobile complexes (including railways), submarines with long-range nuclear missiles (thanks, Comrade Stalin). Everything else is sandbox games in geopolitics. An aircraft carrier adds bright colors to it, but Russia does not need aircraft carriers for small victorious (or not very victorious) wars. It is better to spend money on good icebreakers for the development of the Northern Sea Route (China-Europe through the Arctic).

I've heard that the US' native-born population is declining, and that women are prevented from getting abortions in some locales. Russia sounds pretty good by comparison...

Why doesn't Russia ask China to build a carrier for them? The Chinese seem to competent carrier builders.

Russia doesn't need an aircraft carrier. FFS, the country covers 11 time zones. Everything Russia needs is within its borders, it's self sufficient in all respects concerning industry and commerce. Russia has always been a land power for obvious reasons. That floating scrap heap just needs to be junked. Build some more bridges with the steel. The money can be better spent elsewhere.

And I've been hearing Russia is not going to survive as a nation for the last 30 ****ing years. Predictions from all kinds of so called journalists and experts and media flunkies who don't know their ass from a hole in the ground.

Russias population is stable or slowly rising. I heard recently the abortion rate has fallen 37% since 2010, something like 50 abortions per 1000 pregnancies. More Russian women are having more children and 2 per seems to be the rule and 3 kids are not uncommon. Watch some of this bloggers videos.

You stay tuned, there's a hell of a lot more coming when it concerns Russia.

An aircraft carrier with escort ships is a very expensive and very dangerous weapons.

It is weapons of attack and intimidation. If a country does not have strategic nuclear weapons, then country is defenseless against such groups of ships (greetings to North Korea).

Russia does not have such goals.
