I had a thread before like this but it is like, three years old and I thought of a better way to format the question. I am interested in the anthropology of my ethnicity and just wanted to know.

The other thread, can be closed and I would like new opinions. This is multiple choice so just check off all that fit.

I personally have been mistaken for everything under the sun, but especially Balkan ethnicities (Bulgarian, Serb), Greek, Armenian, Lebanese, etc.

Is there a special rule here about posting pictures, and linking to pictures from other places? I wanted to post some but was not sure what the rule is.

It's better to post a link, unless you took the photos yourself or you've read that they are free of rights. Don't forget to give credit when they're not yours.

Looks like a lot people from Long Island, except for those with more traditional dress sense. I'm even imagining Lawn Guyland accents.

And also a lot of the times in New York, the Jewish population can look similar to Sicilians too so you have an even larger amount of people with said appearance there not to mention people mixed between the two (Lea Michele, Leah Remini etc.)

But I didn't include Jews on this poll because I know what people will say -- "Jews can be of any color", "Jews can look like anything" since most people don't realize Ashkenazis are a distinct ethnic group as are Sephardis, etc.

Yep, I was thinking Jews, too. I was wondering why you didn't have Jews as a choice.

Because I'll hear all the dumb "Jews aren't an ethnicity it's a religion" comments. Although it really IS difficult to tell Ashkenazis and especially Sephardis from Sicilians, both physically and genetically.

Way back there were people that believed that Sephardic Jews were a different group from Ashkenazis, then came the theory that Ashkenazis were "converts" from a Caucasic country...

Not true, both groups are the same, the only difference is cultural, a different rite.

That is true. But a lot of people don't realize that.
