Nice try at changing the subject, the subject isnt the want/need for cigarettes, its about the tax increase.. He clearly said NO tax increases on the poor, he didnt say no tax increases on necessary items..
"I can make a firm pledge . . . no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase." Remember that? It was Barack Obama, campaigning to become president last Sept. 12 in Dover, N.H.
Indeed, he promised repeatedly that 95% of American families would get a tax cut. So it's especially fitting that he chose April Fools Day to implement his first tax increase -- which will fall mostly on individuals and families who do not make anywhere near $250,000 per year.
Early in February, the president signed a law to triple the federal excise tax on cigarettes -- which will jump from 39 cents per pack to $1.01 today. His administration projects this tax hike will bring in at least $38 billion over the next five years.
I'm sure the liberals response will be.. thats ok that he stood there and lied to my face to get my vote.. People should be healthy and shouldnt smoke..
Show me where in the campaign that Obama ever mentioned no increase on tobacco taxes.
If you can't, then please admit that you're deceptive at best.

Obviously you cant be serious. He also didnt say that he would put a $1,000,000 tax on a marriage license so I guess you'd think that would be ok also..

Nor did he say anything about bankrupting our country

so let me understand this, the store owners are suppose to ask for proof of income before they charge the purchaser the increase tax? Thats ridiculous. This is a trickle down effect. The tax is placed on the tobacco company and the suppliers who then pass the cost down to the consumers. So in essence, its the suppliers that are taxing the public. Lets keep the debate to something substantial, not these nit picking items. The government will ALWAYS increase taxes on tobacco, because that is the quick and dirty.

Since you cant understand this (by your own admission), the store owner did not increase the tax on something primarily paid by the poor, nor did store owners run for president using a campaign of not increasing taxes on 95% of americans.. Obama did..
But your right, why nit pick on what Obama said, he means well, even if he lied...
