Gov. Pat Quinn would be any less suspect than one by Blagojevich. Meanwhile, some speculate House Speaker Michael Madigan (D-Chicago) isn't pushing for impeachment because it would put Quinn in the governor's office, creating a potential opponent for his daughter Attorney General Lisa Madigan, who has been eyeing a run for governor in 2010. Quinn has said he would appoint a Senate replacement if he becomes governor. Lisa Madigan is exploring a legal challenge to the governor's fitness to remain in office if lawmakers don't impeach.
Dems get nervous about special election :: The SouthtownStar :: News (http://www.southtownstar.com/news/1327586,121208impeach.article - broken link)
Politics as usual is the reason this country is imploding. Was there ever really a time when doing what's best for America and the people actually mattered, or did I simply imagine it?
Pretty disgusting. But something about that paragraph doesn't make sense. The elder Madigan is allegedly dragging his feet on impeachment, because he doesn't want to have Quinn installed, thus hurting his daughter's chances in 2010. But the younger Madigan is trying to figure out how to sh*tcan Blagojevich anyway.
I don't know, maybe Lisa Madigan is just doing her job well. Wouldn't that be something?
I am not sure the people/citizens matter at all than again I am thinking of Miami as I answer this.
If I lived in Chicago I would vote against Michael Madigan and would email his office telling him impeach NOW or you will bo voted out.
Politicians like trained monkeys must be taught the slightest nonsense and your punished . Its to bad citizens remain loyal to those who havent been loyal to them in years.
People should consider that a special election would cost the state $20 million. That's a lot just because the governor is an idiot. Rod should step aside or be impeached and Pat Quinn should take over.
I wonder if he's trying to get someone to pay him to resign?
I'll bet he's made a few quiet phone calls:
"Hey, this is Blago. You know and I know you guys don't have the money for a special election. So you want me to play nice and go away? Well, (bleep) you! It'll cost you--Gimme a coupla grand or pay for an election. Your choice."

I think the cost is a major deterrence. Unfortunately Blago is so corrupt and narcissistic that he is refusing to simply resign. As it is our state is flat broke and taxed to the nth degree.
