All threats are serious ones. I look out my window and see a big open space where two towers used to be. Every threat has to be dealt with because you just never know what even the smallest group of people can do. Laugh it off or look the other way because it seems too small to be credible, and the next thing you know something horrible happens. Nobody deserves to be hurt or threatened with bodily harm, and anyone who even jokes about it in this day and age better not be surprised when some really official looking people come to pay them a visit. There's no place for that kind of stuff, and it's never justified.

I agree to a certain extent, but we have GOT to get over this "danger lurking around every corner" mentality. The MEDIA, especially, have been extremely guilty (especially in the months following 9/11) of blowing everything out of proportion and keep the country on edge. Do you remember the "shopping malls are terrorist targets over Christmas" blitz? Or the "terrorists are going to use small RC planes to attack us"? Or the little hamlet that found itself as a suspected terrorist attack site and no one knew why? But when the press descended on the little town, they speculated it might be because of the big bingo game at the fire hall and that could be attacked? It's gotten ridiculous!
The facts of this case didn't make it worthy of a BREAKING NEWS! ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT AGAINST OBAMA FOILED! NEO-NAZIS PLANNED ATTACK! The suspects are two losers who had a couple of guns and talked trash. They're charged with some weapons violations and making a threat. That's it! No Neo-Nazi conspiracy and nothing big. Yet, the media won't apologize or set the record straight after the big deal they made of it.
