Bush binges; Obama, McCain will pay - Jim VandeHei and Mike Allen - Politico.com

Looks like either one will have trouble delivering the goods they promise.

It's time to isolate our country. We need to bring manufacturing back in a big way (Obama). We need to reduce the size of the Federal government (neither). We need to stop spending money on foreign wars since there's very little to protect back at home if the economy folds (neither). We need to decrease the taxes on businesses that actually create more jobs and investment (McCain).

So, who will help the average American more?

oh, and we need to end entitlement programs for anyone under 30. Time to start learning to save again. That X box can wait.

Wow, we can almost agree on something here.

Most jobs that left will not come back unless you give them an advantage of tax breaks.
I agree on all your other points and depending on what your mean by entitlements are I agree other then we need to bump that up to age 40 to force people to do things on their own.

It does drive me nuts to find out that people on welfare ( I can that entitlements ) have cell phones, wide screens, high speed, computers, x box and Wiis etc.
They should not be allowed to have ANY of these items if they are getting government freebies. Those things need to be earned not paid for by you and me.

For me, I believe Obamas taxing the business will hurt jobs in a big way. I own a small business and if he hits me with those taxes he talks about and double capital gains I will be done, will go back to only 2 people and lay off the rest.

Steve Forbes as said that he plan Obama has will cause many companies to leave or fold instead of coming back ot growing.

I agree - maybe welfare benefits can be more like food stamps in that there's only certain things it can go to. Basic needs, pretty much. But it doesn't make me feel any better that people on Wall Street are having their risky investing practices backed by taxpayers.

I think he's backpedaled to raising it only to 20%. Even still, this is the biggest bone I have to pick with his tax plan. He could leave CG alone and if the economy pulls out of the gutter, more money should be flowing in from it.

That said, how would an increase to 20% as opposed to 25-28% affect you and your business?

I'm guessing he's basing this on an increase in the CG rate to 25-28%.

Warren Buffett has endorsed Obama though. I find that hard to argue with.

That's where you misunderstand Obama. He intends to create his jobs using money from the Treasury. They'll be government backed. It's almost like a New Deal for 2008. Investment in getting off oil. It's well, you know. It sucks too.
