He's trying to stop guns from getting into the hands of criminals.
Inacting more restrictions on gun ownership for law abiding citizens won't curtail guns in the hands of criminals.

Don't you get it? Criminals don't abide by the laws that are on the books right now. How can instituting MORE gun laws stop criminals from getting guns? Tell me.

News flash Barack, you can't walk into a gun store and buy an AK47. As a Class 3 fully automatic rifle, you've got to jump through a ton of hoops, including having your county PD sign off on you having it, if it's even legal in your state.

His AK47/gang statement is purely aimed to scare people into thinking these scary-looking military guns are only used to by gangs. More than a few hunters, including many former soldiers and myself, *prefer* to use these "military" weapons since that's what we're familiar with. Functionally, these semi-auto "military" rifles do the exact same thing as many "hunting" rifles. Clinton's assault weapon ban in 1994, which sunset in 2004, did absolutely nothing to prevent crime. It was a ban to appease gun control fanatics into thinking he was accomplishing something, when in effectively did nothing.

Whatever you ban, there will always be a black market for.
You can buy a semi-auto AK at a gun store and buy a converter kit easily to convert it to auto.

I know someone who did it. He was able to purchase something like 15 guns within a year.

He had been institutionalized 4 times.

Legal owners that had 30 guns "stolen" from them?

Please.

Have you ever been sitting in your living room with your family and heard gunshots ring outside your front door?
