IS the "lower 48" ready for TAXES 2 1/2 times the National Average, Spending over Double?! - Welcome to Palin Economics, the reality in Alaska

"Of the 50 states, Alaska ranks No. 1 in taxes per resident and No. 1 in spending per resident. Its tax burden per resident is 2 1/2 times the national average; its spending, more than double. The trick is that Alaska's government spends money on its own citizens and taxes the rest of us to pay for it."
Source

"[A]ccording to the Tax Foundation, Alaska ranked 18th in federal taxes paid per resident ($5,434) but first in federal spending received per resident ($13,950). Its ratio of federal spending received to federal taxes paid ranks third among the 50 states, and in the absolute amount it receives from Washington over and above the amount it sends to Washington, Alaska ranks No. 1."
Source

"Under the state constitution, the governor of Alaska has unusually strong powers to shape the state budget."

Governor Palin has said she vetoed "nearly $500 million" in state spending during her two years as governor. "This amounts to less than 2% of the proposed budget."[1]

Fiscal Conservative? hmm......

Are lies the only thing you post? That is all I have ever seen posted by you is lies. Yep Taxes in Alaska are high...do you go into the reasons as to why they are so high. Nope. Would taxes be high if Obama were governor...yes they would probably be about 6.5 times more. You really need to get a clue. You have no credibility as you continue to post these stories without giving all the info surrounding the issue...that would make them lies. Now I need to move on to important things like Hurricane Ike...He is no lie.

Americans wouldn't mind so long as they receive the same returns on their taxes that Alaska does which is right about 1.88 back for every dollar they put in.

Good way to avoid the issue - just call it a lie without providing any proof. The OP provided sources - where are yours? It seems that your only argument is some warped speculation that Obama would be worse - and you even pull the number 6.5 out of your a$# in the process. What does that say for your credibility?

Whats wrong with your thread.
1) You list FEDERAL taxes the people in Alaska pay, and then link it to Palin.. Palin has NO CONTROL over what federal taxes the people of Alaska pay. She's Governor, not president.
2) You fail to list the STATE taxes the people in Alaska pay, if I recall they pay $0, in fact they receive payment for living there, and this should not be credited towards Palin.
3) She vetoed nearly $500 million, and you claim ONLY 2% of the budget, great, imagine if she helps to veto 2% of the federal budget how much money we'll save. You dont think 2% out of a budget is worthy of discussion?

and Congress, not the President, and surely not the Governor, places FEDERAL tax liabilities upon the citizens, the OP attempts to link Palin to the FEDERAL tax rate, and Palin is not in the federal government to have any control over such things.

So, what is your opinion about the state budget in Alaska? Seems this would be a more accurate way to discuss her management process.

Well, to give him credit, he found a new talking point to re-hash over and over. Only, it seems like he doesn't know how the Government operates.

This is what worries me so much in the election process. Ignorance in the booth.
