I see Obama did pick up one of the battleground states, New Hampshire. This is my prediction for November based on TODAYS polls. Colorado will be very important for Obama. Nevada is already leaning towards Obama. Obama doesnt even need Nevada. If he just wins Colorado Obama is the next president. Currently Obama has a slight lead in Colorado. Colorado is a must if Obama loses Ohio, Florida and Virginia which are also battleground states.

Yeah, I agree Obama has to have Colorado and New Mexico if he loses both Florida and Ohio. A new Rasmussen Poll (http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/2008_presidential_election/florida/election_2008_florida_presidential_election - broken link) has Florida tied at 48%...Obama wins there, he wins the election.

If the jewish and black vote are strong in Florida Obama can win Florida. But then again McCain is not as popular in FLorida as Bush was so that leaves an opening for Obama to take the state.

I am trying to stay very conservative in my guesstimate, I think it will be 273-265 Obama over McCain, which will mean that CO & NM are the only real swing states that have to go blue, but that's it. I would love to have the luxury of VA or FL, but I'm not going to hang my hat on either of them. 270towin is awesome!

New Mexico polling data also released here has McCain up for the first time:
Rasmussen Reports™: The most comprehensive public opinion coverage ever provided for a presidential election. (http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/2008_presidential_election/new_mexico/election_2008_new_mexico_presidential_election - broken link)
I know in the last week, the amount of signage on bumper stickers and lawns for McCain has skyrocketed. Of course, that's not a final determiner of election results, but nonetheless, you can sense a groundswell here for the McCain ticket, which I would have thought unrealistic before Labor Day.

Yes, but Rasmussen still gives the Dems a 70% chance to win in November, I like those odds.

I would have said before the RNC, the %s would be even higher than that. But it's like a switch was thrown here. I can't believe adding Palin to the ticket would create such energy here, but it seems to.
I've voted Republican every prior election, but I can't do so this time, even with all the new enthusiasm. Of course, I'd crawl through a sewer barefoot before I voted for Obama.

I certainly wouldn't want you to do that! (glad you're not voting Republican though)
