Palin delivers star-turning performance at RNC - Yahoo! News (broken link)
It was the crowning moment of a roller-coaster week in which the first woman ever on a Republican presidential ticket has faced questions about how closely the McCain campaign scrutinized her. She also has heard a wide range of inquiries about family issues, her policy positions and her record of public service.

People are impressed because she can deliver a speech written for her with the aid of a teleprompter? Wow. Couple that with the fact that she did not demonstrate depth of knowledge about the issues.

And before anyone says it, I've not been overly impressed with Obama's speeches either. They're good, but I've been in church all my life, so I know a good speech when I hear it.

Let's see how Palin does unscripted at the VP debate.

I noticed the poll, proably on purpose, did not give an option for this answer: OK, but lots of room for improvement. If someone is thinking she's great after listening to just one speech, I would say, get out more.
I would say that even if someone listened to Obama just once. However Obama has given at least 30 to 40 similiar speeches in the last 4 years.

She's an excellent speaker.
She's also a fundie Christian extremist who wants to force her views on personal life on the country, and she and her cohort don't respect or desire the separation of church and state.
I am livid that I cannot ever consider voting for a Republican as long as the party is controlledl by and for evangelical and extremist Christians. For me, and many other women, pro-choice or not is a single-issue dealbreaker, and I wish it weren't so. It shouldn't even be a national issue, but the extremists have made it so.
So it doesn't matter a bit whether Palin is a rock star or good speaker or whatever. We're not voting for national sounds-good-on-TV (I hope) but for an entire group of people, the pols and their backers, the people they bring in and who they are beholden to. The Repubs are forever off limits to me as long as they dance to the fundie tune.

Amen to that. Amen to Democrats with the moderate Christians, no to nutjobs.
