Perhaps the one's doing the fighting aren't as excited about indefinate war with Iraq, expanding into a new Cold War with Russia, as McCain and his neocon advisors.

OpenSecrets | Troops Deployed Abroad Give 6:1 to Obama - Capital Eye

However, in fairness to McCain, Big Oil is doing their part to offset (broken link) what deployed soldiers are donating to Obama.

Interesting, especially the chart.

Donations to Obama: $60,642
Donations to Ron Paul: $45,512
Donations to McCain: $10,665

Hillary Clinton is at the bottom of the list, after Huckabee and Romney, with $3,240. Even Fred Thompson got more than her, with $6,350.

The troops don't lie. Their donations tell the tale.

BOTH Obama and Paul were against the Iraq war, so we must add both of their donations to get a true picture of "wrong war" fans vs the "100 year war" fans; i.e., $106k vs $10.6k, or a staggering 10:1 ratio, which means that 90% of them OPPOSE McCain.

Military guys hate phony leaders. They know they were victimized by Bush - and will not have John McCain if they can help it.

I can't open the link. What are they basing this info on? How do they know who is giving how much to whom? Who is keeping score on such personal info?

According to the Rush Limbaugh crowd here who never served a day and have no concept of the military that list is wrong.

Those who have served and gotten out within 4 to 5 yrs KNOW that list is true . Surprised McCain even got that.

The military vote this election is going to go against the GOP like a steamroller .

In truth most who aren't officers dont vote and its going to be hard to count the over sea deployed combat troop votes unless the Dems get organized and make sure over sea troops get their ballots, etc they are going to lose huge volumes of votes.

In 2 months that list will take Obama and RP over $100,000 and Mccain will stay under $20,000.

Troops dont dislike Mccain they like him but the "new" GOP they hate. The funds given to candidates will back me up .

Oh wait maybe these are what Limbaugh calls not real soldiers, fake soldiers because they dont support creatures like him.

--------------

This is what I have been saying last few weeks but ofcourse what do I know .
Oreilly and Limbaugh know best and you know that enlisted arent exactly known for donating money lol.

I would think Mccain's money came ftom officer's as a whole ?

Obama and RP from enlisted though now more officer's are Dems than ever or atleast RP supporters.

I had trouble with the link at first, but got it to work eventually. I had to first google on "open secrets" to get their basic page to load, then I got it to working. You'll find answers to your questions on that website. Seems like they are very thorough. Here's the link again: http://www.opensecrets.org/news/2008...d-give-61.html

It's the Capital Eye site, it's hard to open between 3-4 eastern standard time because that's when it usually updates.

A former West Point professor, Jason Dempsey, noted that the small set of contributions from deployed troops at this point in 2008 -- just 323 donations -- should not be extrapolated to form conclusions about military personnel overall. "If, on a bad day, a guy gets that letter that says [his tour has been extended] from 12 to 15 months, that could spur a quick donation and expression of anger," he said. "Donating helps members of the military express their political views privately."
