Seats for Obama's speech snapped up in a day

The Democrat's campaign receives more than 60,000 applications in 24 hours.

Colorado's tickets to see Barack Obama's acceptance speech at Invesco Field at Mile High were more than spoken for within about 24 hours, officials said, and the application process closed Thursday for all but those willing to be put on a waiting list. Obama's campaign set aside for Colorado half of the more than 60,000 seats available to the public for the final night of the Democratic National Convention. It turns out the battleground state could have filled the stadium, as the campaign ended applications after collecting more than 60,000 Thursday afternoon.

Guess he should have rented a bigger place...

Meanwhile, the republicans will have empty seats at their convention.

If the convention were held in Atlanta, the Georgia Dome holds 75,000 but that probabally wouldnt have made any difference considering over 200,000 people came to see Obama in Germany for one speech. Thats the population of most mid-sized cities and half the population of the Atlanta metro.

The ill-advised policies of the current Republican party have led to hafing about 8,500 (with more to be added) people that they missed out on because they will be attending the Rally for the Republic/Ron Paul event just down the street on the same night.

Good job to the Republicans for screwing up their own party and convention.

We should all have such problems....

Obama campaign is worried that the huge demand for tickets may result in some people trying to sell their tickets. The counter this, the Obama campaign said it will closely track the bar codes on tickets. Any ticket found to be up for sale will be deactivated.
