I know many soldiers and I've never heard that one. Not one of my friends has ever claimed they didn't know what they were getting into when they signed up.

This was great . It's really sad to see that people buy into the ridiculous ideals of the Republican Party. Such is life, I guess.

They signed up to protect their country. They signed up to fight for our freedom. They signed up because they love their country and treasure their freedom and have the great courage to fight to protect them. They did NOT sign up to play out Rummy's, Bush's, and Cheney's wet dreams about the "romantic warrior" that not one of the 3 had the guts to be ...all brought about through a pack of lies. So Bush got to be a "wartime president", Rummy and Cheney got to bring in more dough for Haliburton, and our brave men and women got to fight and die for it. Believe me, that is NOT what they signed up for...and I'll bet you I talk to more soldiers on a weekly basis than you do in an entire year.

Good Lord, we didn't learn anything from the Viet Nam War.
