Baby Mitt isn't going to run, and it looks like they're having a hard time getting any heavy hitter R's to take it on. That's a surprise--I thought that was why they were pushing so hard for Kerry--so the R's would have a shot at his Senate seat. This could get interesting.

It feels like it's getting boring, not interesting. One would think that the Repubs would have made sure they actually had a candidate before they engineered the cabinet selection process to suit their needs. Oh, well. I'm happy Kerry is SoS and Ed Markey will make a great Senator.
This may well be why Brown isn't running for the open Senate seat -- hopping on the O'Reilly/Hannity gravy train will be much more lucrative than working on Capital Hill.
Further, such a stint won't exactly enhance his gubernatorial prospects, so it doesn't sound like Brown is seriously looking at a run for the statehouse, either.

Presumably, this means Brown will run for governor instead.
This is consistent with an emerging GOP strategy- they've given up on trying to overcome the demographic realities of competing in national elections. Instead, the GOP intends to concentrate on winning governorships and state houses, turning the states into laboratories for experiments in conservative policies, and citing the 10th Amendment to push back hard against anything the Feds mandate that they disagree with.
Not a bad plan, actually
"Not a bad plan, actually." is right. It's a very smart plan which has been successful. And, take over the state governments and you control reapportionment over time ... and skewer the House of Representative races which will keep the GOP in control for a long time. Yes, I hate to admit it, but I admire their strategy.
