Douglas Band, former President Bill Clinton’s top aide, plans to vote for Mitt Romney — not for President Barack Obama — in November, according to a report in The New Yorker.

In an extensive article on the complicated and often unpleasant relationship between Bill Clinton and President Obama, the New Yorker’s Ryan Lizza reports that Band intends to cast his ballot for the former Massachusetts governor this fall.

.............

Lizza describes Band, 39, as “Clinton’s closest political adviser.”

Report: Bill Clinton
Actually, Ryan Lizza, the reporter, made no such claim. The article said this:

Quote:
For Clinton, the politics are more complicated. His associates take it as a given that he would like nothing more than to see his wife become President. Hillary Clinton will step down as Secretary of State after the campaign and begin the process of deciding whether she will run in 2016. By some measures, a defeat for Obama in November would leave Hillary the undisputed leader of her party and propel her toward the Oval Office that much faster.

At least one of Clinton’s closest advisers seems to be backing that strategy. According to two people with direct knowledge, Douglas Band has said that he will vote for Romney. Band declined to comment.

So, the reporter has a theory that Hillary Clinton wants to be president and a defeat of Obama would further that objective -- not, as the OP implied, that an associate has a fundamental objection to Obama.

I bet if the truth be known, Clinton will vote for Romney. It's in Hillary's best interest come 2016.

You dishonestly left out this:

“According to two people with direct knowledge, Douglas Band has said that he will vote for Romney,” Lizza writes.
So if Ryan Lizza made no such claim, why is that in quotes?

Standard practice is for a reporter to get two confirmations (irregardless of how flimsy) in order to pass the threshold of proper journalism. In any case, it isn't the reporter making the claim, it is two unidentified sources.

Moreover, my post outlined the reporter's theory, which had to do with personal self-gain motivations and not policy differences between Band and Obama.

In other words, this is hot air.

I guess it passes your "threshold", eh?

Obama's defeat would certainly help Clinton 2016. My guess is by the Romney would have helped steered the economy into improvement which would make him an even more formidable opponent. Clinton may simply be not up for the tough fight.

I would be willing to bet that both Clintons will be voting for Romney as well.

I would put big money on Hillary not running ever again, but I also believe both Bill and Hill will vote for Romney because they hate obama..
Every time bill makes a speech for obama, he sticks a knife in his back. I will be watching for him to do it again tonight. He is clever and loves to smile while he twists the knife...
