I usually don't pay much attention to polls, but when the numbers reach 6 in 10, or 8 in 10 likely voters, it's not so easily dismissed.
By choosing a running mate so closely identified with changing Medicare, Romney may have shot himself in the foot in states with a high number of elderly voters, like Florida. And, Mitt Romney simply cannot win without Florida.
The more people look at the Medicare issue, the more people will side with Obama. Romney/Ryan have just been straight up lying about Obama in most aspects of policy and especially when it comes to Medicare. Romney/Ryan is just banking on voters being ignorant or not exploring the issue for themselves.

Being wealthy enough that they don't have to personally worry about healthcare in their old age, neither Romney nor Ryan have a clue how much old people depend upon Medicare. They see it as a fiscal issue, while older voters see it as a matter of life and death.

That's true. People personally see it as a health matter, as they should, but for the country as a whole it is also a fiscal issue. It's also a moral and ethical issue, too though. I think that the wealthiest nation on earth can and should continue the guaranteed benefit of Medicare. There are lots of ways to reduce health spending across the health system and Medicare to save a lot of money. Going to private vouchers won't really bring costs down, it will just shift the cost to seniors. I think that approach is going in the wrong direction.

I agree, but to the real ideologues who run the GOP, old people don't matter as much as the ideology.

That is like trusting John Dillinger with a bank. Obama just stole $750 billion from medicare. If this proceeds, many practices will stop seeing medicare patients after Jan 1st when the 30% reduction in rates goes into effect, thus making access impossible. Obamacare patients will face the same issue.
As slavery is currently illegal in the US, the government cannot compel physicians to see a large number of patients for which they will lose money on every one.
Anybody, old or young, who trusts Obama with anything, much less anything fiscal, is suffering from severe dementia. The very thought of trusting that fool is laughable.

Good luck with Obama at the helm of medicare!
So cutting spending growth is now "stealing?" Does that mean Republicans will not be cutting a spending if their regain control of government?

Hogwash. Doctors won't quit seeing Medicare patients as that's a huge amount of their business. They may threaten it, some may even do it for awhile, but with the boomer's coming into Medicare age, they'll either accept Medicare or take up something like driving a truck instead of doctoring.

Why? And, what makes R&R more trustworthy, other than that they have an R before their names?
