The austerity has to come whether you like it or not. Going on 4 years of "spend and hope" isn't working.
Cutting taxes while spending more is the Greek solution of ignoring the incoming headlights.
We turn to the Fed Reserve to bail us out like the Euro countries turn to the IMF.
It cannot go on indefinitely.
Ryan at least proposed a reform package that offers a 10 year transition to a new program.
It's a start and can be debated and modifed as it would have to go through Congress, although many here seem to think it's a done deal and will be signed and put into execution on 1/21/2013 if Romney is elected.
What has Obama proposed for reform ? NOTHING. What he's done is CUT funding.
And you have $500 billion in medicare cuts passed in Obamacare. What are the estimates of "lives in danger" from those cuts which are not proposals but reality ?
Well stated! Obama's idea of rewarding the second generation of illegal alien criminals (aka DREAMIes) by giving them amnesty will be a saving mechanism for America's work force and future social security and welfare benefits is beyond insane.
Some estimates put the number of people's lives in danger of dying as high as 50 million as a result of Paul Ryan's savage austerity against the poor and elderly.

That is not going to end well. Being able to collect FICA from them "indefinitely" while they know they can never collect on it is not going to last long. And we won't get much when FICA is taken from low wage jobs.
In our nation, the one I live in, Johnson's Great Society programs stopped a precipitous decline of those living below the poverty line.
LBJ's war on poverty has only created more poverty.
The programs initially created to get them out of poverty has only served to keep them in poverty as well as their children.
The War on Poverty, like the War on Drugs has only served to make the problem worse.

Its kinda easy for multi millionaires like Romney and Ryan to sit back and slash all manner of social programs that benefit the poor and lower income Americans as these cuts are never going to affect them, they'll never need Food Stamps,SS, Medicare or Medicaid etc., in the meantime the rich will get the usual financial breaks and convenient loop holes to avoid paying any viable amount of taxes and the whole financial paying down the debt will be placed squarely on the shoulders of the poor and not so rich Americans.
Whats a real head scratcher to win Romney/Ryan will need almost all their votes from Americas middle class as their buddies the 1% just wont swing it.And this middle class who potentially have the most to lose in the proposed slashing of many social programs are going to vote for Romney/Ryan merely because of their illogical blind hatred for Obama...

The 71-year-old senior citizen was obviously unhappy about Ryan’s use of the word “entitlement” when he has paid, as all working people have, for the benefits he receives. It’s apparent that he went to the meeting to voice his opposition to that term being used; a view shared by many.
