I was just about to post this...I can't say, better late than never because this was his choice and his reasoning makes sense. I did not see him, I just read it in our paper this morning. He resaoning is: Romney will be the nominee so it is time for the party to stop fighting and get behind him.
I was thinking the same thing. I think everyone knows it's over but Santorum and Gingrich.
Gingrich knows it is over: it is Santorum that can't quite give it up yet. AS much as we can all pretty much accept Romney as the nominee we also need to respect outher candidates. If Santorum thinks he standas a chance I do not understand why he should drop out. I even feel this about Paul. He knows it is over, but he will fight on, at least for now. if nothing else these candidates may have more influence on the Republican platform.

Yet another ringing endorsement for Romney. Reminiscent of Jeb Bush, who endorsed Romney because he "lost any hope that we’ll have anyone better." Which, if you think about it, sums up the GOP primary season quite nicely.

Sounds like a solid endorsement to me. It sounds to me like he didn't want to pick sides while there was still a chance of someone else winning considering what a strong VP candidate he is. I wouldn't take that as a slight against Romney, more his own political ambitions. And to be clear, I'm not criticizing him, I think it was a smart move.
