In a shocking new CBS/National Journal poll of general election voters, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and Texas Rep. Ron Paul perform the strongest against President Barack Obama.

The poll of 1,247 registered voters shows Romney with 47 percent support to Obama’s 45 percent and Ron Paul with 45 to Obama’s 46 percent – a statistical tie given the plus or minus three point margin of error.
Obama Ties Mitt Romney And Ron Paul In CBS Poll | Ology

He may not win, but the Ron Paul Revolution marches on. I predict that Rand Paul will be a serious contender for President in about 10 years.

Paul is the only candidate that could survive a Democratic onslaught in the general election, primarily because he will actually do certain things that President Obama mislead us on, such as ending the wars. Romney is getting torn to shreds all ready. New England candidates do well in New Hampshire, but I predict Romney will start slipping as the cycle drags on. Oddly, Paul is one of the few people defending Romney where he thinks the attacks against Romney were overly critical.

I agree, although not many do.

Ron Paul appeals to constitutionalist Republicans, disenfranchised Democrats, most third parties and independents; add to that the Republican faithful who will always vote for the party's candidate no matter who it is and you've got the only reasonable formula that beats Obama.

How old will he be? 85? I think not. Actually, both Mitt and Paul are ahead of obama and the others aren't far behind.

I'm glad someone finally posted some actual polling data supporting the oft made claim that Ron Paul could beat Obama. The data proves that Mitt Romney could too,but there have been multiple polls showing that already.

Why are you posting a poll that has Romney leading Obama? I thought you Democrats thought this election would be an easy win.

The way I've figured it for ages now, there were only ever three guys who could pose any threat to Lord Emperor Obama.
1.) Romney
2.) Paul
3.) Huntsman

This is the closest we've seen anyone but Romney in a head to head poll. Huntsman doesn't seem to get any traction with the GOP because he too electable ... I mean moderate. Essentially the same thing.

The rest of the GOP field is just too conservative and out of touch with mainstream America.
