This is the first reputable poll that has has had Cain as the front runner. This is big news.

NBC/WSJ poll: Cain now leads GOP pack - politics - Decision 2012 - msnbc.com

52-6 republican primary voters favorable/unfavorable
72-2 tea party voters favorable/unfavorable.

if those numbers stay like that, cain will win the nomination.

I'll bet that Romney cannot believe that a black man is beating him. I think that Cain is being given a "pass" on his 9-9-9. Bachmann was right in that the devil is the details. Cain is a good speaker and talks the way that the republican base really likes to hear.

I wouldn't hold my breath. After the next debate people will have learned a lot more about Cain and his support will have dropped.

But what if he deflects that by saying "9-9-9" and the Cainbots just start drooling and forget about all it. I wouldn't be surprised.

You're right, this is big news. I'm not thoroughly convinced that he'll still be in the top spot, say, 3 months from now, but I didn't expect him to poll as highly as this...

National polls don't really matter, state polls do, and Romney still leads those. I can't believe people actually support Cain. The man's a one trick pony, 999, is all he has, and that plan is garbage. Anytime he gets asked about ANYTHING, he just pukes out more 999 drivel. The man's out of his depth and over his head, he won't last long.

Here's the link to Cain's "plan" if you want to call it that:
999 | Herman Cain for President
Quote:
One look at the plan itself proves this. And to any readers who clicked on the link, yes, that is the entire thing. That’s not just an abbreviated talking points-oriented summary. It’s the entire plan. 1140 words, of which only 378 relate to the immediate effects of the plan, or what it consists of. The rest are devoted to bromides (“We can not spend our way to prosperity”), tactical rather than practical reasons for supporting the plan (“unite the “Flat-Taxers” with the “Fair-Taxers”) or bizarre policy non sequiturs whose connection to these specific tax rates is never explained (“launch properly structured Empowerment Zones to revitalize our inner cities”).

And how about Mr. Hope & Change? What specific plan did he have on his campaign trail in 2008? Just a lot of platitudes spoken left, spoken right (following his best friends, a pair of teleprompters).

Just read an article stating that his top political manager deliberately told the press that Hermain Cain plan would not be a success, and that basically it was more of a brief joke to a more serious plan. I am actually surprised his political manager would mention that to the press considering that Herman Cain has been using that plan to help drive his campaign.
