Evolution is as much a fact as the boiling point of water at sea level.

Natural selection is a theory that was developed to explain this fact--the set of data that demonstrates that man evolved from lower forms. No serious scientist doubts natural selection either; they may debate how, exactly, it worked, but not that it happened.

It is also a natural fact, and a scientific theory with mountains of evidence backing it up.

Creationism on the other hand is based on a Sumerian myth made up by humans sitting around a campfire several thousand years ago.

You mean the Sumerian record of the "great flood", right? You know, the one the Bible was copied off of.

And BTW, the fossil record totally destroys any chance of there having been a global flood (that and a million other things).

A fact has to be proven. The theory of Evolution is not proven. The geologic column used to support the theory exists only in textbooks, not in reality. The layered stratum as exists all over the world could only have occured following settleing after a great fllood.

You trot this out like it is a known. You were there when the mysterious Sumerians made the "myth" up, presumably?

It is widely accepted in the scientific community that evolution IS a THEORY. if you have something to prove the big bang took place, and isnt a theory, I invite you to present it to the world. Please assist the world in knowing the truth, dont keep it to yourself
Are you talking evolution or cosmology? The big bang has nothing to do with evolution...

And educate yourself on what a SCIENTIFIC THEORY IS. The big bang is a fact. So is evolution. Both are described by scientific theories.

That evolution happened is proven. How it happened is the province of the theory of natural selection--a theory supported by masses of evidence. As for the "geologic column", you need to pick up something published since about 1840.

You really don't understand the difference between a demonstrable fact and a theory, do you?

I blame it on the failure of public education. It's not your fault.

I suspect a lot of things are mysterious to you because you've never bothered to learn anything.

Or that creation happened. Neither are proveable. We exist, that's all we can prove (and there are some that will even argue that...).

Heh. Not that it matters, but I attended private religious schools for my entire K-12 career.

[E]volution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts do not go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's, but apples did not suspend themselves in mid-air, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from apelike ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other, yet to be discovered.
