Don't do it. These guys are not recommended by the local CVB. They are a mexican company that chooses not to renovate. Please read this article and make your own opinion.

Rich was talking about the Plaza Hotel which is now owned by Paul Foster, and your article is about the Camino Real Hotel.

As far as I remember, Paul Foster and his fellow investors are still planning on restoring the Plaza Hotel to its glory. There hasn't been many news stories about this lately, the latest articles came out in March of this year.

It will take some time to renovate the Plaza for sure. With the recent announcement of the 2015 bowling tournament coming here to downtown, I think this will really get the ball rolling on this project.

I agree about the CR getting tired looking. And I am not surprised about the A/C problems. I didn't like it when Westin sold it back years ago. I knew it probably wasn't going to be kept up to a 4 to 5 star rating.

With the bowling tournament coming up they have a few years to get on the ball, pun intended. If they are serious about tax incentives they really need to invest the money.

Maybe they could build a bowling alley IN the hotel. The bowlers could stay there too in the rooms. Good idea or what?

It wouldnt work. A bowling alley for a large tournament like that needs a huge alley like the one they are building in the civic center (i think around 100 lanes). An alley in a ball room in CR or the plaza would probably be 20 lanes across, the size of a small town alley.
