maybe they loved their jobs. its funny how people collecting public money all the sudden they struggled and lost sweat blood and tears for us ungrateful private sector workers.

people paid into social security and theoretically should get their money back, but there isnt enough money for that.

but his point was...the people who don't pay taxes on income aren't just a bunch of freeloaders. the group is made up of a variety of people.

like when i worked a job in high school and college, and didn't make enough money to need to pay federal income taxes. was i a freeloader because i didn't pay income taxes? or a hardworker trying to earn spending money for high school and college?

i understand but i dont like the emotional aspect and then these seniors worked long dogs for 45 years and you are going to steal food from their mouths!? some worked like dogs, some didnt. thats not the issue. the silly over dramatization isnt helpful in this debate where (like it or not) cuts are going to have to be made.

Every one who earns any gross income should pay FIT. Thus, 47% are freeloaders-as they do not pay a penny. A flat tax, starting at dollar one gross, based on gross, not adjusted income, would be nirvana. No longer would the 47% leech off the 53% who do pay.

No matter what we need to stop spending on programs and that takes cuts with the growing nubers projected on them and we need to redo the tax structure to be more broad based which menas more paying taxes on income.

Amen, texdav. If 537 clowns in DC won't get it done, Moodys and S & P, via credit rating drops, will force the long overdue Day of Reckoning.

Naming a debt commission and ignoring the results is simply hypocrisy.

exactly. the politicians will not get it done. we need to not raise the debt limit, let the credit of our government take a hit and let borrowing become too expensive for us to do. the governmnent should not be allowed to raise debt. its a tax on us because in the end, we are paying it all off.

our current budget calls for almost double the spending as revenue, that means we are really being taxed double what we think we are. it is going to hit us like a train. might as well let it happen sooner rather than later.

so when i was a high school kid working, i was leeching off the 53%? your comment is ridiculous.

Agreed. And while politicians certainly deserve most of the blame, the American public has to stop freaking out when their favorite programs has to see cuts. Budget cuts are a great idea...until they eye your Medicare!

we being the younger folks. the older folks are riding this debt wagon to their grave, and then leaving it for us to be taxed on. gotta love it. but they are the ones that vote. so why shouldn't politicians pander to them?
