I'm reading that tripe is very good for dogs and is fed by a lot of the raw food folks often in place of vegetables.
I live around a lot of cows, so I'm going to ask a farmer if I can get some. Supposedly it smells to high heaven, but dogs love it, and it does wonders for their coat and makes for nice firm uniform poops.
One of my friends feeds raw and tripe is a big favorite at her house. She feeds it to her Chihuahua, two pugs, and American Bulldog with amazing results. But you are right about the smell, it's enough to make most gag, lol. She has a blog and is really great about answering questions, if you google Canine Mafiosos her blog will pop up.
