Well generally I find it really endearing and it just makes me smile but I must say when he does the wake up barking and charging around thing, that always gives me a fright! It usually happens when we're all sprawled out watching tv and he's fast asleep and then out of nowhere Cujo!

I'd LOVE to know what he's dreaming about!

Now that ours are so old that they can no longer run and chase, it's welcome to see them still able to enjoy doing so in their dreams.

I agree, I would love to know what their dreaming about. I am sure Woody finally catches the cat in his dreams. He runs and buff's in his sleep but also wags his tail, it must have been a happy dream.

Yeah, this is normal. I've never had a dog that didn't twitch and whimper while dreaming. Some are more energetic than others.

My golden wakes himself up when he barks in his sleep.

Our 2 Goldens due the same. Dylan, the younger of the two, will bark and really get into the "chase". Sometimes I do wake them up....it's comparable to DH's snoring

My dog sleeps on a blanket in our room and I hear all sorts of whining and crying and snorting and so on from her.

I just tell her wake up if she starts whining. I wonder WHAT she is dreaming of.

All 3 of my dogs do it. Bailey, my yellow lab, is the most prominent "dreamer." He runs, growls, howls and makes some of the funniest snoring sounds!

Never had a dog who didn't at least twitch occasionally while sleeping. I had one who would even let out muffled barks in her sleep. It was so cute.

Ohhh how I wouldn't love to "talk" with my dog about his dreams...what ever he's doing it sure looks like he's having a great time

So don't worry about your dogs movments and "talking" while he's dreaming, just enjoy and imagine what he's dreaming about...
