My English bully has the WORST gas I have ever encountered, we actually contacted our food company - he's on Wellness - and they suggested that we soften the food up which will probably help him digest it better. I have to say that the only time he has gas now is when he eats something not in his diet. He has an extremely sensitive stomach and has a hard time digesting a lot of different foods. He can only eat checken and rice meals. Fish, Venison and Lamb all mess up his tummy. We literally only give him treats from Old Mother Hubbard and Feed him Wellness. the only time he has something different is when he is at doggie daycare and they give him their treats............he's so spoiled. Now if I can just work on his breath I would be good to go! LOL
I've heard that about English Bulldogs (the gas issue), maybe a lot of them have sensitive stomachs?
We've been feeding Wellness Wellbars as their "cookies" recently, just to switch it up to something different. They love them and there's been no gas issue with the Wellbars.
And I'll admit, I probably transitioned faster than I should have. I was still researching which brand I wanted to go with as I was getting lower on dog food and I misjudged how much I had left for the transition. I had enough to last me nearly a week and put in a little at a time until I was 1/2 and 1/2 for about 3 days (and they eat twice a day).
These are healthy dogs, if they weren't, I probably would have moved much more slowly. Aside from the initial gas issue, there were no other side effects and the gas issue resolved itself.
I honestly didn't know about the whole transitioning thing until recently - it can be so confusing! I mean, I thought that you could come home from the store and just pour the new stuff in 100%. But I'm glad that I know now. It's good that your poochies made it through to the new formula with relative ease

Do you all change foods a lot?
This is the first time I've changed their food in a couple of years.
This is a 4 1/2 year old thread, but foxywench suggested a little parsley on my dogs' food to cut down on gas. Call it coincidence or foxy calling it right again, but that has made all the difference in the world. Cheap, too!

I clicked on the thread after i posted on another thread. ACV is still very good stuff. Who would have thought parsley! thanks
Sorry to laugh at your misfortune but, this is great. My dogs can peel the paint off the wall. Glad I'm not the only one.
